Purpose:
The purpose of this Civil Aviation Safety Alert is to raise awareness of possible insufficient clearance between the engine fuel-feed line and the upper skin stringer of the right-hand side collector tank, and to recommend actions to correct the issue.
Background:
Insufficient clearance between the fuel-feed tube assembly, connected to the auxiliary pump, and the upper skin stringer inside the right-hand side collector tank (see Figure 1) has been discovered by BA during a routine inspection on the Final Assembly Line.
This insufficient clearance condition, combined with a partially filled collector tank, a lightning strike, and the correct ambient conditions, may result in a spark inside the collector tank. It may also result in damage to the fuel-feed tube assembly.

To address the issue, BA has issued Service Bulletin (SB) 700-28-7508 Basic Issue, dated 10 December 2025 to inspect affected aeroplanes for insufficient clearance and damage; and if insufficient clearance or damage is found, to replace existing parts with newly designed parts as required.
Recommended action:
Transport Canada recommends that owners, operators, and maintainers of model BD-700-2A12 aeroplanes, serial numbers 70006 through 70133, 70135 through 70144, and 70153, carry out the inspection and corrective actions, as required, described in BA SB 700-28-7508 Basic Issue, dated 10 December 2025, or later revisions.
