The lead and the Network create a culture where issues faced by persons with disabilities can be openly discussed and resolved so that persons with disabilities can thrive in the workplace.

In the context of “Nothing About Us Without Us”, the Network is a core consultative body that supports corporate enablers in their development of TC’s Accessibility Strategy.

Mandate

Black and Other Racialized Employees Network (BORN) is an employee resource group that promotes a diverse and inclusive workplace.

BORN’s mandate is to promote the understanding and respect for the diversity of the Canadian population by providing a barrier-free forum for employee consultation and outreach, and to share recommended actions from employees that aim to address equity and to remove barriers caused by systematic racism in the workplace.

Promote and provide leadership on TC's commitment to applying Gender-based Analysis Plus (GBA+) and the Policy Direction on Sex and Gender Information Practices to modernize how sex and gender information is collected by the Department.

Ensure that our policies, programs and initiatives are inclusive of all individuals by considering other identity factors beyond sex and gender, such as race, ethnicity, religion, age, and mental or physical disability.

TC supports the continued advancement of more informed and responsive policies, programs and initiatives through the use of GBA+ as an analytical tool to systematically consider the varying obstacles, barriers and conditions faced by different groups of people, in all their diversity.

This is to achieve overarching goals of improving gender equality and contribute to a more fair and equitable society.

Transport Canada is also updating the collection, display and use of sex and gender data to align with the Treasury Board Secretariat of Canada's Policy Directive on Sex and Gender Information Practices.

The mandate of the Transport Canada Young Professionals Network (TC-YPN) is to promote a sense of community and pride through employee engagement and collaboration. The TC-YPN connects TC employees with each other. We offer employees a forum to share ideas and foster an innovative environment at TC. We also promote learning opportunities by coordinating and developing initiatives within the Department. The TC-YPN is geared towards those within the first 15 years of their public service career, but our events are open to all.
