Isabelle Hendy was appointed acting Director of Policy, Issues Management and Strategic Advisor to the Deputy Minister of Transport on May 29, 2024.
Prior to joining the Deputy Minister’s Office, Isabelle was part of Cabinet Affairs, Marine Policy, Crown Corporations and Appointments, Strategic Policy, Innovation Policy and the Assistant Deputy Minister’s Office over a span of 16 years in Transport Canada.
Isabelle is also active serving member in the Canadian Armed Forces reserves. Lieutenant Isabelle Hendy has been serving for over 19 years, starting in the Military Police and spending the majority of her career as an infantry Section commander as a Sergeant in the Cameron Highlanders of Ottawa. In 2021, Lt Hendy commissioned from the ranks to become a Logistics Officer and became the Chief Financial Officer over three years, managing millions and overseeing 330 full time employees. She is currently the Training Officer under the Operations unit with 33 Service Battalion.
Isabelle holds a Masters of Public Administration from the Royal Military College of Canada and an Honours Bachelor of Commerce with a specialization in Marketing from the Telfer School of Management at the University of Ottawa. Isabelle is married with three children and is passionate about volleyball, competing in the World Games and World Championships with CISM for multiple years.
