Jaime Caceres is the Chief Financial Officer and Assistant Deputy Minister, Financial Management Services, at Transport Canada. He brings extensive experience in financial management and public administration, having previously served as Director General (DG) and Deputy Chief Financial Officer at the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC), where he oversaw key functions including budgeting, internal controls, financial analytics, reporting, salary management, and grants and contributions (G&C) management.
Before joining PHAC, Jaime held various Director General roles at the Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO) and the Canadian Coast Guard (CCG), where he advanced major initiatives such as the implementation of the Oceans Protection Plan, the modernization of science enterprise centres, and the replacement of aging IT fisheries management systems. He also played a pivotal role in managing financial reviews, cost recovery efforts, and capital projects, while contributing to Cabinet and Treasury Board submissions.
Jaime holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Waterloo and a Master of Arts in Economics from McGill University. He has also completed the Senior Advanced Executive Finance and Accounting Program through CPA Canada.
