Other Key Program impacts on gender and diversity:

The recipients under National Trade Corridors Fund are provinces, territories, municipalities, Indigenous organizations, private and public sector companies and academia. As these are not individuals, and the department selects applicants based on the degree that their projects will benefit Canada's transportation network (which ultimately benefits all Canadians regardless of race, gender or sexual orientation), TC does not currently collect micro-data on individual recipients of National Trade Corridors funding.

GBA Plus Data Collection Plan:

TC has contracted CPCS to undertake research with the aim of establishing a current and reliable evidence base for GBA Plus, to improve GBA Plus reporting at the program level and potentially inform future reporting requirements under the NTCF. The study is expected to be completed in Fall 2022. TC could incorporate these findings, as appropriate, into project and/or program reporting.

GBA Plus Data Collection Plan:

The current collection of transportation efficiency performance indicators was not established to collect or analyze GBA + information.  Current metrics for the use of data in Canada's transportation system are not optimized to collect GBA+ information, however the development of a new Transportation Data and Information Hub website will allow for updated collection and reporting of website metrics.  The addition of new GBA + indicators is being investigated to provide additional insights and user analysis.

With regard to managing TC's legacy assets and activities (e.g., local/regional and remote airports, local ports, ferry services), TC does not collect socio-demographic data on users that would allow for monitoring differential impacts on clients of differing genders/other intersecting identities.  Activities are not expected to negatively impact Canadians based on gender or relative vulnerability.  TC facilities and ferry vessels must comply with relevant regulatory and other requirements, including through the provision of separate men's and women's washrooms and accessible washrooms.  More broadly, the operation of these assets plays an important role in terms of supporting local economic development, including tourism, as well as responding to social needs and serving local populations.

Statistics Observed Results* Data Source Comment
For reporting purposes, the program collects information from individuals to identify the diversity of individuals appointed to Governor in Council and Ministerial appointments within the Transport portfolio.  Information tracked, includes gender, ethnicity, age and linguistic profiles. Within the portfolio approximately 44% of appointments are women, 6% are racialized Canadians, 9% are Indigenous Canadians and 3% are Canadians with disabilities. Candidate self declaration form

GBA Plus Data Collection Plan:

Recognizing gaps in information collection, Department has implemented a direct communication with federal appointees within the Transport portfolio to ask them to self identify.  This information will be used to update data analysis tools already in place and to provide more concrete and reliable information analysis.

The update of the information is expected to be completed in Fall 2022.
