When do you need this inspection?

  • Inspection to confirm rectification of deficiencies
    An authorized representative can ask for a follow-up inspection to check that a deficiency (issue) found during a risk-based inspection was corrected.
  • Inspection to rescind a detention
    Transport Canada can issue a detention order if a vessel is found with a detainable deficiency (issue).A detention order prevents a vessel from continuing its voyage until the deficiency is rectified. An authorized representative will need to request a follow-up inspection in order to rescind (withdraw) the detention order.
