This is a list of affordable electric vehicles (EVs) with a Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $50,000 or less that Canadians may consider when looking to purchase or lease an EV and wanting to benefit from the incentives under the Electric Vehicle Affordability Program (EVAP), depending on the final transaction value. What really matters to qualify for the incentive is the final transaction value, which cannot exceed $50,000. This list is for information only. If a vehicle isn’t on the list, but meets the eligibility criteria and the final transaction value of $50,000 or less, then the transaction can qualify for the incentive. There’s also no transaction value cap for Canadian-made EVs.
What does “final transaction value mean”?
Just because a vehicle is on the list doesn’t guarantee that every transaction for every model will qualify for an incentive. To be eligible for the EVAP incentive, the final transaction value must be $50,000 or less.

Indicates Canadian-made EVs that are exempt from the $50,000 final transaction value cap.
Eligibility criteria
To be eligible for an incentive, a vehicle must:
- be bought or leased* on or after February 16, 2026
- have a final transaction value of $50,000 or less
- Note: there is no final transaction value cap for Canadian-made EVs
- be made in Canada or in countries that have a free-trade agreement with Canada
- meet all of Canada’s Motor Vehicle Safety Standards
- be highway-capable (no low-speed vehicles) and meant for use on public roads
- have at least 4 functioning wheels, and
- be a new vehicle, meaning a vehicle registered for the first time
- Eligible EVs with an odometer with less than 10,000 km qualify as demonstrators (vehicles that buyers can test drive at a dealership)
- There are 2 levels of incentives:
- up to $5,000 for battery-electric and fuel cell electric vehicles
- up to $2,500 for plug-in hybrid vehicles
*Transactions initiated prior to February 16, 2026, do not qualify for an incentive, regardless of the delivery date.
Note: Incentives will decrease over the program’s lifespan. The incentive you receive will be based on the date your dealership submits the Eligibility Assessment to Transport Canada (not the date you buy or lease the vehicle or the delivery date of your vehicle).
