Establishing coastal marine response teams

The Canadian Coast Guard responds to thousands of marine incidents each year, including marine pollution, such as oil spills. Response to these incidents can be complex and involve many parties.

Through the next phase of the Oceans Protection Plan, Coastal Marine Response Teams will be collaboratively developed in Indigenous and coastal communities to build local response capacity. These teams will form a national system of first responders and improve coordination between response partners during incidents.
