General

Design and manufacture

Ton Containers need to be designed and manufactured in accordance with the Transport Canada Standard TP14877– Containers for Transport of Dangerous Goods by Rail.

Selection and use

The selection and use of ton containers must be done in accordance with the Transport Canada Standard TP14877 – Containers for Transport of Dangerous Goods by Rail. Certain dangerous goods of Class 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8 and 9 may be transported using ton containers.

Registration

Registering as a ton container manufacturer, test facility and independent inspector

To register, the applicant must submit a completed application form. Once issued, the Certificate of Registration is valid for five years, after which the facility must apply for renewal.

Amending, renewing or cancelling a registration

To amend, renew or cancel a registration the applicant must submit a completed application form.
