Child Car Seat Behavioural Research

Transport Canada conducts research related to the correct and appropriate use of child restraints.

We work with other safety partners to conduct research to promote correct and appropriate child restraint use. These partners include the provincial and territorial departments of transportation or public safety, as well as non-governmental safety organizations via the Canadian Council of Motor Transport Administrators (CCMTA). CCMTA's mandate can be found at www.ccmta.ca. Transport Canada also works with safety partners, such as St. John Ambulance, to develop standardized training material for child restraint technicians who teach people how to correctly install and use child seats at local child seat clinics.
