Further to studies concerning the effects of exposure to cosmic radiation on aircrew flying on board Canadian commercial aircraft, Transport Canada published a Commercial and Business Aviation Advisory Circular (CBAAC #0183) dated April 5, 2001, entitled "Measures for Managing Exposure to Cosmic Radiation of Employees Working On Board Aircraft".
The CBAAC recommends that air operators develop a program for managing the cosmic radiation exposure of their employees who work on board aircraft. While air operators may implement the recommended measures contained in the CBAAC on a voluntary basis, Transport Canada intends to eventually develop regulations pertaining to this subject.
