1.0  INTRODUCTION

  1. This Advisory Circular (AC) is provided for information and guidance purposes. This AC on its own does not change, create, amend or permit deviations from regulatory requirements, nor does it establish minimum standards.

1.1  Purpose

  1. The purpose of this AC is to provide information and guidance regarding operational matters and to provide Air Operators with a quick cross-reference between Part VI and VII of the Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs) equipment regulations and the Airworthiness Standards. ACs are available electronically on the Transport Canada Web site at:

    https://tc.canada.ca/en/aviation/reference-centre/advisory-circulars

  2. Information contained in the Appendix A of this AC required updating and in order to comply to the new Documentation Framework requirements, the previous AC is being reissued under the IMS requirements.

4.0   GENERAL INFORMATION ON PART VI AND VII REGULATIONS CROSS-REFERENCE TO AIRCRAFT EQUIPMENT AND INSTALLATIONS

  1. TCCA often receives queries regarding what airworthiness standards apply to specific regulatory requirements on aircraft equipment in Part VI of the CARs – General Operating and Flight Rules; and in Part VII of the CARs – Commercial Air Services.

  2. In an effort to provide a quick cross-reference between the above subparts of the CARs and Airworthiness Manual (AWM), a table has been produced. The table shown in appendix A is provided as a quick reference to determine the airworthiness standards which apply to various equipment regulations of Subparts VI and VII of the CARs.
