1. Purpose
1.1 The purpose of this staff instruction is to provide personnel with an overview of the Aircraft Maintenance Engineer System (AMES 2.5) database; the requirements that must be met to obtain access to the system outline some of the new features available in updated AMES 2.5 version.
2. Background
2.1 The new AMES version 2.5 is an Oracle based program available through the TC Internet, using Microsoft Internet 5.5 or greater Explorer Web Browser. The new web based program is a "live" system where any changes made become effective at the time of entry.
2.2 In addition to this MSI personnel are required to review the AMES User Manual that provides details of the program and instructions on how use the AMES 2.5 version. The manual is available at the following web site:

3. Effective date
3.1 This instruction comes into effect on November 01, 2004
