Mr. Murad Al-Katib

Mr. Murad Al-Katib, is the President and CEO and member of the Board of Directors of Alliance Grain Traders Inc., a company he founded in 2001 as Saskcan Pulse Trading and built into one of the largest ocean container shippers in Canada. Mr. Al-Katib has considerable financial and strategic business experience in international trading and commodities.

Mr. Al-Katib has served on the board of the Canadian Special Crops Association and Pulse Canada, chaired the Advisory Committee to the Minister of International Trade on small and medium enterprise, and is the current Chair of the Regina Regional Opportunities Commission. He also served as a member of the Government of Canada’s panel for the renewal of Canada’s Global Commerce Strategy. He is also a member of the Canada-UAE CEO Business Council and a member of the Canada-India CEOs Council.

Mr. Al-Katib has received a number of awards, including the Queen’s Silver Jubilee Medal in 2012 and a 2006 Queen’s Saskatchewan Centennial Medal for Business Achievement. In 2012 he received the Pulse Promoter Award from BASF/Saskatchewan Pulse Growers, and was named to PROFITGuide Magazine’s list of Canada’s “30 Most Fabulous Entrepreneurs of the past 30 Years.” He was nominated one of the Caldwell Partners/Globe and Mail’s Canadian “Top 40 under 40” in 2005, and in 2004 he was the Ernst and Young Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year. Mr. Al-Katib completed a Masters in International Management from Thunderbird School of Global Management in Arizona and a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Saskatchewan.
