Michaela Beth Julian, Student, Marine Engineering Technology:

My name is Michaela Beth Julian, and I am taking Marine Engineering Technology at NSCC.
I'm from Shubenacadie, First Nation, Nova Scotia, and fishing was always a big part of my life and being a part of the fishing community.

Sarah Martin, Student, Bridge Watch Rating:

My name is Sarah Martin. I'm enrolled in Bridge Watch Rating. I've always been around the water and surrounded by it. And my father always took me up in the Halifax harbor. And just growing up, I really just had a desire to work. The funding from Transport Canada has really taken the stress off of everything, coming to a new school, to a new area.

Michaela:

I think more people should get involved in this program because of the funding for one. And because we definitely need more women in this industry. The more women that we have in the industry, the more safer space it becomes for women.

Steven:

You couldn't pick a better time to go to sea now. The whole world is screaming for, not just officers, but deckhands.

Theresa:

Number one, you can do it. And number two, we will help you get there.

Sarah:

It's been amazing. It’s honestly the best thing I've ever done. Very lucky to have this opportunity.

Michaela:

Don't let your fear stop you from trying new things. Your voice matters, your voice is strong, and your voice is going to be your best weapon when it comes to learning and moving forward in any career, in any field, around the world.
