I am writing to advise you that Transport Canada is initiating a review of the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act, 1992. As part of this review, we are issuing a request for comments. In addition to requesting written comments, public consultation sessions will be held.
As Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Transport, I would like to invite you to the first public consultation session, which will be held at the Scarborough Civic Centre, 150 Borough Drive, Scarborough, Ontario, on Monday, March 22, 2004.
At the time of event registration, between 9:00 am and 10:00 am, please indicate if you wish to receive future mailings on the review of the Act. The consultation session will run from 10:00 am to noon, and from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Submissions will be accepted on a first come, first served basis and will be presented in order of registration. Such submissions should be no longer than 10 minutes.
We ask that you submit a copy of your presentation at the time of registration. If you wish your submission to be made available on the Transport Dangerous Goods web site, please also provide a diskette with your submission at the time of registration.
If there is sufficient time, there will be an open session in the afternoon for general discussion as well as questions and answers.
As a transportation stakeholder, your views are important. Your participation would certainly add value to this event and I encourage you to attend.
