Marc Grégoire graduated from the civil engineering program at the École Polytechnique de Montréal in 1978. He also completed the course curriculum of the Université de Montréal’s master’s degree program in transportation. He obtained his airline pilot license in 1980. In 1983, he joined Transport Canada working in the Quebec Region.
During his time at Transport Canada, Marc worked in different positions and was promoted to senior management.

- Assistant Deputy Minister of Safety and Security
He was also the Commissioner of the Canadian Coast Guard from June 2010 until he retired in 2014.
