Bulletin No.: 14/1985

Date (Y-M-D): 1985-09-01

Subject: Faulty Diesel Engines

The purpose of this bulletin is to draw attention to a potential safety hazard that exists on some CUMMINS diesel engines manufactured between January 1,1984 and April 4,1985. The defect is in the engine throttle lever control, which can break, causing engine speed control loss.

Some throttle lever assemblies, manufactured as replacement parts, during the same period, apparently are also defective.

CUMMINS has voluntarily issued a recall and has urged owners to have the part replaced immediately.

Owners of vessels with CUMMINS engines and spare lever assemblies manufactured, during that period should contact their CUMMINS suppliers for further information.
