Transport Canada allows stakeholders to take part in open, meaningful, and balanced consultations at all stages of the regulatory process. Through public consultation, all interested stakeholders are invited to participate in the regulatory process, to raise comments as well as voice their concerns.
Transport Canada also hosts regional and national Canadian Marine Advisory Committee (CMAC) meetings. These are excellent forums where stakeholders can actively participate in the regulatory process. In addition, when current regulations are amended or when new regulations are proposed, Transport Canada publishes them in the Canada Gazette, Part I, in order to allow the public to submit their comments. All public and stakeholder comments are reviewed at that time and taken into account before proceeding with the regulatory proposal and the subsequent publication in Canada Gazette, Part II.
