Transport Canada’s Rail Safety Improvement Program gives federal funding to projects that increase safety at high-risk grade crossings and along rail lines. This funding is in the form of grants or contributions. It includes investments in infrastructure, technology, research, education, and awareness initiatives.
The program aims to reduce injuries and fatalities as well as reduce collisions, derailments, and trespassing accidents to build public confidence in the railways. These investments in safety also make the rail transportation network more resilient against climate change.
