Problem:
The shipping carton was incorrectly labeled regarding the weight range for the restraint system in the rear-facing mode. The weights specified on the carton did not agree with the weight range specified on the statement of compliance labels affixed to the restraint in the carton nor the instruction manual. The carton incorrectly states 3 to 14 kg (6 to 30 lbs.) rear facing and all the other information states 3 to 10 kg (6 to 22 lbs.).

Background:
Mattel Canada received two complaints from a retail account and the company immediately initiated an investigation into the matter. The affected restraint system packaging at the retailers have been corrected. The 1347 consumers who returned the restraint registration cards will receive letters concerning the incorrect information on the carton.

Safety Risk:
There is no safety risk if the consumer uses the restraint system for a child between 10 and 14 KG (22 and 30 lbs) based on this single label information, because the restraint system has been tested to the standard for this weigh range and meets the requirements.

Consumer Action:
A consumer can telephone the Fisher-Price call centre and discuss the matter with a company representative. The corrective action that a consumer can take is to cross-out 3 to 14 kg (6 to 30 lbs.) on the carton, if the consumer has retained the carton.
