Issue:

Britax Child Safety, Inc. and Transport Canada wish to inform the public of an error with respect to the French language instruction manual. On page 45 of the French language instructions, when describing the positioning of the harness straps for the forward facing mode, the term au-dessous is used which means below. The term should read au-dessus which means above. The English language instruction manual is correct.

Safety Risk:

Should the shoulder harness be located at a position below the shoulders, this could potentially cause increased injury to the child in the event of a collision.

Background and Company Action:

Transport Canada received a telephone call from a consumer in the province of Quebec requesting clarification as to where the harness straps should be positioned for forward-facing. On receipt of this complaint, the company was informed of the discrepancy and proceeded to rectify the situation immediately with a corrected page that would be placed over the incorrect information.

Consumer Recourse:

Britax Child Safety, Inc. has printed a new page of the French language instruction manual that can be placed over the incorrect information. These will be sent out, free of charge, to all registered owners of the Diplomat. Should a consumer not be registered with the company, a new page will be provided, free of charge, by calling the toll free number (1-888-427-4829).
