Abstract

In an effort to assess the safety of preschool-aged children travelling in school buses, Transport Canada conducted tests to evaluate their safety if the bus is involved in a collision. The study has demonstrated that:

  • Pre-school-aged children would benefit from being restrained in child restraints appropriate to their height and weight while travelling in a school bus.
  • Older children continue to be well protected by school bus compartmentalization.
