What does Canada gain from an effective SSP?: State Safety Programme training

In the past few sections, we looked at some of the details of SSP and what it contains in terms of actions and benefits.

Canada has enhanced responsibilities to provide guidance to aviation partners to improve safety.

This means collecting, analyzing and sharing safety data.

Government facilitates continuous improvement by monitoring performance so that industry partners operate within guidelines.

Safety promotion will support training and motivation of aviation partners to actively identify risks and suggest solutions based on the analysis of safety data.

In this way, groups and individuals can act to make decisions according to a common belief that safety is a part of the way they do business, so that aviation safety becomes part of the culture.

  • Ease of communications: common safety language between governments and industry
  • Better identify safety risk: enables data-driven decision making
  • Fewer incidents: early detection and mitigation of safety risks
