In this trial project, Aircraft maintenance engineer (AME) applicants can request to have their unapproved training evaluated by a participating Approved Training Organization (ATO).
Participating ATOs will ensure the training meets the applicable basic training requirements. The ATO can also provide gap training for AME applicants in order to meet the applicable basic training requirements.
During the trial project, AME applicants may still apply to have their basic training evaluated by Transport Canada Civil Aviation (TCCA).

What you need to submit
Submit a request by contacting a participating ATO below.
You will need to provide the following information, translated into English or French:
- AME licence rating requested (M1, M2, E or S)
- original or certified true copy of your graduation certificate from an aircraft maintenance basic training course applicable to the AME licence rating being requested
- original or certified true copy of a transcript of marks of the aircraft maintenance basic training course
- original or certified true copy of the theoretical hours of training in each subject area of the aircraft maintenance basic training course, and
- original or certified true copy of the detailed curriculum of the aircraft maintenance basic training course, attested in writing by the basic training institution where you completed the training
Certified true copies
Certified true copies can be completed by one* of the following:
- a notary public or commissioner for oaths
- a Transport Canada Civil Aviation Safety Inspector, Officer, or Operational Support personnel;
- the holder of a valid Canadian AME Licence, or
- a representative of a participating ATO in the trial project
*Individuals certifying the documentation are required to indicate their name, region or AME licence number (as applicable) and the date of certification.

Letter of acceptance
Applicants will receive a letter stating their training is acceptable to TCCA after an ATO has:
- evaluated unapproved basic training
- provided any required gap training
- determined that the evaluated and completed gap training meets the TCCA requirements
