Transport Canada Approved Aircraft Courses For Aircraft Maintenance Engineers
(This Airworthiness Notice supersedes AN No. C003 Edition, 4 dated 28 June 1996)
Transport Canada (TC) course approvals are only granted to training organizations that have met the requirements of Standard 566, Division II, for both an approved Training Policy Manual (TPM) and applicable course curricula.
With the publication of the new AME Licensing Training Standard, all TC approved aircraft type-training organizations (ATO) were required to be recertified in accordance with Standard 566, Division II requirements as of the following dates:
- Type training (International) December 31, 2002
- Type training (domestic) April 01, 2004
As of the dates indicated above, all TC approvals issued under the previous licensing model (Airworthiness Manual, Chapter 566, October 1996) ceased to exist and all course approval numbers have been archived. ATO's whose training programs have been recertified in accordance with the current training standard have been issued with new course approval numbers.
The TC approval number follows the format of:
The TC approval number is applicable to the specific type of course taken, course dates and facility location for which the approval was issued. Where a course has been approved for presentation at multiple facilities, the course graduation certificate will identify the specific location in which the course was completed.
For example:
Course | ATO approved for training | Location/facility on certificate/diploma | Approval number on certificate/diploma |
---|---|---|---|
A310 (Airframe/ Powerplant) | ABC Training | Ottawa, Ontario | 2002-12-9999 |
A310 (Airframe/ Powerplant) | ABC Training | Charlotte, North Carolina | 2002-12-9999 |
In certain situations, TC will authorize a "one-off" course approval, which specifies the course was approved on a one-time basis only. Under these circumstances, the course graduation certificate will identify the regularly formatted TC number with the addition of "-1" appended at the end of the number.
For example:
Course | ATO approved for training | Location/facility on certificate/diploma | Approval number on certificate/diploma |
---|---|---|---|
Lycoming T53 series | DEF Inc. | Ottawa, Ontario | 2003-01-999-1 |
