NCR-056-2012 expired The purpose of this exemption is to permit all Engineering Test Pilots working for hire or reward for Transport Canada to exercise the privileges of acting as pilot-in-command or co-pilot of any aircraft, in the aircraft category endorsed on the pilot’s licence, without having a rating for the aircraft that is being operated, while conducting airworthiness flight testing of the aircraft on behalf of Transport Canada. This exemption is required because ratings for aircraft being flight-tested are either unavailable or inappropriate.

NCR-061-2012 expired The purpose of this exemption is to permit Bombardier to continue to hold a valid type certificate (No. A-131) that includes the CL-600-2E25 (CRJ-1000) model aeroplane, without a complete showing of compliance to paragraph 525.981(a)(3) of the AWM, where the structural aspects of the fuel tank system have not yet been demonstrated to have two independent means of lightning protection. This exemption is an extension in the time limit for showing compliance to that which was previously allowed under exemption NCR/RCN #080-2010 issued on 2 November 2010 and expiring on 29 October 2012. This exemption allows Bombardier additional time to complete the necessary certification program, including design, testing, analysis and documentation to show compliance with AWM 525.981(a)(3).

This will allow the operation of a crane having a maximum height of 98 ft and not penetrating the transitional surface. A further purpose of the exemption is to allow a contractor designated by Aéroports de Montréal to erect a crane having a maximum height of 230 ft Above Ground Level. The crane exceeds by 132 ft the maximum height authorized on the transitional surface of runway 06R/24L. The crane is situated in an area between 400 and 1430 ft past the threshold of runway 24L, and between 1020 and 1360 ft to the right of the runway centreline. The work will be done between 6:00 am and 4:00 pm (local time) between Friday, October 26, 2012 and Wednesday, February 13, 2013.

NCR-002-2012 The purpose of this exemption is to alleviate the administrative burden of having to re-identify the manufacturer (currently defined as being the holder of a type certificate for an aeronautical product) on the aircraft identification plate upon change of type certificate ownership or upon a request to install an aircraft identification plate. The operators of aircraft will not be required to amend their aircraft identification plate, in order to reflect a new holder of the aircraft type certificate. This exemption also permits aircraft identification plates for new aircraft to be marked with the name of the “maker of the aeronautical product” in lieu of the holder of the aircraft type certificate.
