The implementation of RVSM in a designated portion of Northern Canadian Airspace occurred on April 18, 2002, and in Southern Domestic Airspace on January 20, 2005. This exemption will permit persons operating an RVSM certified aircraft, in RVSM airspace to conduct IFR flight, at altitudes appropriate to track between FL290 to FL410 inclusive, in accordance with the 1000 feet RVSM vertical separation. RVSM procedures will permit certified RVSM aircraft to be operated with 1000 feet vertical separation in lieu of the normal 2000 feet separation.

The purpose of this exemption is to allow persons who conduct a take-off in an aircraft that has been subject to an abnormal occurrence to have the required inspection for damages performed by a person who may sign a maintenance release in accordance with section 571.11 of the CARs. This exemption will also allow other persons identified in section 571.11 of the CARs to sign a maintenance release for an inspection following an abnormal occurrence whereas the current regulatory requirements limit this privilege to the holder of an aircraft maintenance engineer (AME) licence issued under Part IV of the CARs.

004-2005 expired The purpose of this exemption is to provide and alternate training and qualifying regime to the one currently prescribed by the CARs for Canadian Air Operators operating under Subpart 5 of part VII of the CARs. More precisely, the purpose of this exemption is to allow Canadian Air Operators, operating under Subpart 5 of part VII of the CARs, to deviate from the traditional six-month and twelve-month requirements for training and checking intervals as currently prescribed by the CARs. This exemption will allow these Canadian Air Operators to operate with training and checking periods that are specified in their approved AQP. The training periods specified in a Canadian Air Operator's AQP cannot be any longer than 8 months and evaluation periods cannot be any longer than 16 months.
