Agreed. Transport Canada recognizes that it may face challenges in meeting the 2050 net zero target due to its complex fleet portfolio and rapidly evolving technologies that could be used to green large marine vessels and aircraft. Because of this, the department updates its Carbon Neutral Roadmap as required, identifying and including new short- and long-term actions as they become available that will significantly contribute to emission reductions. In order to capture significant risks that could prevent the department from reaching the Greening Government Strategy emission targets, Transport Canada will develop a risk management framework that will also identify corresponding mitigation measures, with the objective of having the framework in place by March 31, 2023. |
