Part V - Airworthiness Manual Advisory (AMA) - Notice

Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs) 2019-1

Content last revised: 2004/12/01

NEW AIRCRAFT CERTIFICATION BRANCH ADVISORY CIRCULARS (ACs)

This Notice is to advise that in the December 2004 Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs) amendment, changes to advisory material currently found in Part V of the CARs are being introduced.

As discussed in the past, in an effort to harmonize our advisory documents with those of other international aviation authorities, it has been decided to replace existing Airworthiness Manual Advisories (AMAs) related to the design or the certification of aeronautical products with new Advisory Circulars (ACs) that will be published by the Aircraft Certification Branch. While the content of the new Aircraft Certification ACs will remain technically similar to that of the AMAs they are replacing, the format of the ACs will be standardized to conform with other guidance documents published by the Aircraft Certification Branch. The new ACs will be numbered in accordance with the CARs Subpart to which it relates, for ease of reference.

As AMAs issued by the Aircraft Maintenance and Manufacturing Branch have not been converted, AMA 500/00 will remain as part of Chapter 500 of the CARs. It will provide a cross-reference between the former AMAs and the new Aircraft Certification ACs, as well as provide the list of AMAs still in effect.

The new Aircraft Certification ACs will be published by the Aircraft Certification Branch in electronic and paper format. The electronic format, consisting of both HTML and Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF), may be found on the Transport Canada (TC) website at the following web address:

https://tc.canada.ca/en/aviation/reference-centre/aircraft-certification-guidance-advisory-materials-pre-2007

Throughout the month of December, the new Aircraft Certification ACs will be posted to the above TC website. Additional information regarding this and other guidance documents related to the design and certification of aeronautical products will also be found at the above address.

CARs subscribers and other members of the aviation public wishing to receive the Aircraft Certification ACs in paper format are asked to contact the Regulatory Standards Division office noted below by mail or email to request addition to the AC distribution list. The information required for addition to the distribution list is the name of the contact person, company name, full address, telephone number, email address and language requested (English, French or both).
