Who is the focus of this consultation

All Canadians are invited to participate in the online consultations. Those with a particular interest may include:

  • people and groups who work in the marine sector
  • people and groups who work in marine labour
  • maritime associations, and
  • the Canadian public

Key questions for discussion

We have three discussion questions for stakeholders:

  1. How have the ongoing labour shortages impacted you in your day-to-day operations?
  2. The Canada Shipping Act, 2001 defines who can hold a Certificate of Competency. Is the act’s current scope limiting our ability to reduce the impact of this challenge?
  3. Are there other adjustments to the Canada Shipping Act, 2001 that could help address labour shortages?
