Canadian Vehicle Use Study

Thank you for taking the time to participate!

The purpose is to collect estimates of road activity of heavy trucks in Canada for safety, environment and policy purposes. It will help us make better decisions and monitor trends.

The OttoView data logger you have received is safe and easy to use. Please install at once and leave it in your truck for three weeks. Although all of the hard work is done by the logger, we would also like you to fill in some details of each trip using the logger’s touch screen. This should take less than 20-30 seconds to complete each time you start a trip.

General tips:

	The logger turns on automatically when the truck is started The questionnaire appears shortly after ignition.
	Please answer the questions using the touch-screen on the logger. Warning: Vehicle should be safely parked before answering questions.
	While driving the logger records engine information. Please ignore it. If the screen is too bright at night you can dim it (see the Q&A). Tip: If you stop the vehicle to load/unload your cargo (including empty trailers) and keep the engine on, start a new trip by pressing on the “Stop sign” button on the main screen.
	The logger turns off automatically shortly after the engine is stopped.
