Still in progress We are currently running a survey for consumers who have benefitted from the Incentives for Zero-Emission Vehicles Program.
GBA Plus Data Collection Plan:

We are currently running a survey to help us understand the demographics of people who benefit the most from the Incentives for Zero-Emission Vehicles Program (iZEV) Program. We expect the results to be released and analysed by fall 2021.

We’re asking consumers for information like:

  • their household income
  • the size of their community
  • their gender
  • the highest level of education they’ve achieved
  • how many vehicles they own or lease

Protecting Oceans and Waterways

Target Population:

The Canadian marine sector (marine transportation, fisheries, aquaculture; etc.) and Canadians who live close to Canada’s coasts (Atlantic, Pacific or Arctic plus the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence). However, we are aware that the marine sector is male-dominated, and been taking steps to increase the number of people from under-represented groups (like Indigenous peoples and women) who work in the sector.

Number of female and Indigenous students enrolled in the Marine Training Program

In 2020-21, female applicants increased by 221%, and Indigenous applicants increased by 100%

Annual progress reports from Marine Training Program partner institutions.

This indicator has been tracked since this program.

Final enrollment numbers will be reported through final reports from each training institution in March 2022.

Key Impacts: Other

Through the Indigenous and Local Communities Engagement and Partnership Program (ILCEPP), the Native Women’s Association of Canada (NWAC) hosted a national virtual workshop on the subject of Indigenous Women’s Voices on Marine Safety and Ocean and Waterway Environmental Protection. This brought together Indigenous women from across Canada to discuss working collaboratively to improve marine safety and environmental protection of the oceans and waterways. NWAC since developed a Marine Safety and Oceans Discussion Document: Indigenous Women’s Voices on Marine Safety and Ocean’s Protection discussion paper.

More broadly, extensive and ongoing engagement through other ILCEPP projects and a variety of Oceans Protection Plan (OPP) initiatives has provided qualitative data as well from which to draw on regarding the impacts of marine safety policies and programs on GBA Plus, including particular demographic groups, such as women and Indigenous Peoples.

Discussion paper: Indigenous Women's Voices on Marine Safety and Ocean's Protection. Final report hasn’t been published publicly.

GBA Plus Data Collection Plan:

Training programs track number of female applicants and the percentage of increase in applicants. If we engage with Indigenous communities or local communities in the future, we will collect and analyse GBA Plus data.

Transportation Innovation

Target Population:

All Canadians.

Distribution of Benefits:
by Gender Men     Equal     Women
by Income Level Low     Equal     High
by Age Group Youth   Equal   Senior
Key Impacts: Other

The Transportation Innovation Program has done an initial GBA Plus and we’ve found that gender isn’t a relevant factor in our research considerations or results. The program has looked at other relevant factors, like the impact or feasibility of technology on urban and rural populations, or the size of the crash test dummies used in vehicle testing.

GBA Plus Data Collection Plan:

Nothing to report for 2020-21.
