Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) Licence Applicants and Holders

Subject:

Interim changes to the AME licence application, AME licence renewal and approval procedures as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic

Purpose:

This notice provides information on the interim changes to the acceptance of documents sent via email in support of an AME licence application.

Interim changes:

Submission of Electronic Documents:

Transport Canada Civil Aviation (TCCA) will accept AME licence application forms (24-0083 and 26-0638), supporting documentation and proof of payment sent via email, including translated documents, provided the documents have been certified as true copies of the originals by:

  • A notary public or commissioner for oaths;
  • A TCCA Safety Inspector/Officer or Administrative (Operational) Support personnel; or
  • The holder of a valid Canadian AME licence.

For more information on the certification of true copies, please consult Appendix A of Maintenance and Manufacturing Staff Instruction (MSI) 18 – Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) Licensing Procedures available at the link below under the “Resources” heading.

Supporting documentation includes proof of:

  • age and citizenship;
  • basic training (graduation certificate, curriculum, hours and marks, as applicable);
  • maintenance experience (employment letters); and
  • skill (logbook).

TCCA recommends using the online payment service to pay the applicable fee available through the link below under the Resources heading.

Applicants residing in Canada must submit their application, supporting documentation, and proof of payment of the applicable fee by email to the TCCA office in their region:

Applicants residing outside of Canada must submit their application, supporting documentation and proof of payment of the applicable fee to Ottawa Headquarters at AMELicence-LicencedeTEA@tc.gc.ca.

Renewals:

TCCA continues to accept and process AME licence renewals and print the credit card style AME licence.

To renew your AME licence, TCCA recommends completing the application form 24-0083 electronically and to pay the required renewal fee by using the online payment service. AME licence holders can send their application and proof of payment by email to the TCCA office in their region:
