Eligibility for funding
Eligible recipients must be a Canadian legal entity and be one of the following entities:
- For-profit private organizations
- Provinces and territories, including provincially-owned and territorially-owned entities
- Municipalities, including municipally-owned entities, and local and regional governments
- Canada Port authorities
- Not-for-profit private organizations
- Public sector organizationsFootnote 1
- Academia
Conditions of funding
Available funding
- The program will provide funding over a four-year period.
- The maximum contribution for each project is $5,000,000.
The project must begin on or after the project approval date, and all activities must be completed by March 31, 2027.
The following financial conditions apply:
- the BWIP will reimburse recipients up to seventy-five per cent (75%) of eligible expenditures incurred towards a project
- applicants must show they have enough up-front funding to carry out the proposed project

- Your application must be signed, accurate and complete before submitting it.
