Subject: International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code
A new amendment 28/96 of the International Maritime Dangerous Goods ( IMDG ) Code will enter into force internationally on the 1st January 1997.
The Dangerous Goods Shipping Regulations will be amended to include the latest changes to the IMDG Code.
Until the said Regulations are amended, either the existing code (Amendment 27) or the new one may be used; however we urge all users to comply with Amendment 28/96 from the date of entry into force as some other Administration may begin the enforcement on the 1st January 1997.
It is expected that the Regulatory process may take several months. Once the Regulations are amended full compliance with Amendment (28/96) will be required. Industry will be advised accordingly.
