Bulletin No.: 08/2007

RDIMS No.: 2471009
Date (Y-M-D): 2007-08-21

Subject: Vessel Clearance for Vessels Engaged on International Voyages

Requirements to have certificates verified, prior to a vessel being granted clearance to engage on a voyage to a foreign port from the last port of departure from Canada, are set out by sections 213 and 214 of the Canada Shipping Act, 2001 and the Vessel Clearance Regulations made pursuant thereto.

The purpose of this Bulletin is two-fold:

Firstly, to remind Authorized Representatives of vessels engaged on these types of voyages that the requirements specified above came into force on July, 1, 2007; and

Secondly, to remind Authorized Representatives of such vessels of the requirements to ensure that clearance documents presented to the authorized officials of the Canada Border Services Agency, include details regarding the certificates specified by the Vessel Clearance Regulations, prior to requesting clearance.
