Request an approval of shippers’ procedures for cargoes that may liquefy

Hazards can result from liquefaction and potential shifting of cargoes. Ensuring vessel stability and proper stowage and securing cargo during transport leads to safer operations and a safer workplace for seafarers. Proper cargo transport may also provide protection to the environment by avoiding potential cargo spills.

When do you need this inspection?

Every shipper of cargo to be loaded in Canadian waters must comply with the International Maritime Solid Bulk Cargoes Code (IMSBC Code). Under the IMSBC Code, TC shall approve the procedures established by the shipper regarding sampling, testing and controlling of the moisture content of a cargo that may liquefy.

Your letter of approval will be valid for up to five years, or less if specified by the authority of the port of loading with an intermediate verification on or before the first anniversary.
