Overview
On March 10, 2019, Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302 (ET302) crashed near Addis Ababa in Ethiopia, claiming the lives of all 157 people aboard. The victims were of 35 nationalities, including 18 Canadian citizens, as well as permanent residents and others with ties to Canada. The ET302 flight was en route to Nairobi, where many of the passengers were going to attend the United Nations environmental conference that was scheduled to take place the following day.
The Commemoration Fund for the Victims of the Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302 Tragedy is a new grant and contribution funding program to commemorate the victims. This Commemorative Fund is split in 2 streams:
- commemorative scholarship program supporting post-secondary students studying in Canada
- commemorative projects that are youth-focused, environmental, humanitarian, and/or community-based
