Executive Summary
This guideline incorporates results from five years of in-depth scientific and engineering research, in addition to a review of industry best practices and is intended to provide railway companies operating in Canada with key information to develop and improve train marshalling systems and practices, as well as an analytically verified methodology to evaluate and assess in-train force levels attributable to specific train make-up. The overarching goal of this guideline is to improve the safety of freight train operations.
