Installing a child car seat or booster seat

It’s important to make sure that your child car seat is installed securely.

Before you start, make sure you read and understand:

  • the section of your vehicle owner’s manual on installing a child car seat
  • your child car seat user manual
  • the rules in your province or territory on child car seat, booster seat and seat belt use

You may also want to attend a car seat clinic.

How to install your child car seat

Each child car seat stage is different. It is important to read and follow the instructions for your specific child car seat or booster seat model.

Keep your child in each stage for as long as they fit within the height and weight ranges specified by the manufacturer.
