Fee Structure
Hourly fees (Table 1):
- are charged for every hour a Transport Canada employee takes to process your application
- there is a maximum number of hours we can charge for some services
- this maximum is calculated by fiscal year which starts on April 1 and lasts until the following March 31
- once we reach this maximum, you won’t be charged for any additional hours within the same fiscal year
- charges will resume April 1 of the next year with the count of hours restarting at zero
- hourly maximums vary based on the product type (Tables 2 and 3)

Maximum chargeable hours are calculated by type certificate per fiscal year not by individual service request.
The above maximum chargeable hours do not apply to:
- change to a type certificate for an aeronautical product that is not listed in the Canadian Aviation Regulations with reissuance that is the responsibility of Transport Canada
- Type certificate post certification revisions to type design data for an aeronautical product that is not listed in the Canadian Aviation Regulations without reissuance that is the responsibility of Transport Canada
All fees will change based on inflation every year on April 1.
Based on Transport Canada’s Policy on remissions, if we miss the service standard some of your fee may be reimbursed.

Additional charges
For periods of extended discussions about a design application, that occur prior to the submission of a formal application, we may charge you an hourly fee of for assistance with the preparation of an application. Taxes are applicable.
We may charge for domestic or international travel when a TC employee must perform a service related to the processing of an application for the issuance, renewal, amendment or endorsement of a document. This charge may include transportation, accommodation, meals and incidentals and overtime when applicable.
