Guidelines on air travel performance data collection for large and small air carriers

Overview

Transport Canada amends the Transportation Information Regulations to establish data collection and reporting requirements for major air carriers travelling to, from, or within Canada. These guidelines provide details for small and large air carriers on the procedure to report their data obligations.

Important notice

Large air carriers: The first reporting obligations for December 15, 2019 to March 31, 2020 must be submitted by April 30, 2020. All proceeding deadlines for monthly data submission are required by the end of the following month (i.e. April 1, 2020 - April 30, 2020 must be submitted by May 31, 2020).

Small air carriers: The first reporting obligations for December 15, 2019 to March 31, 2020 must be submitted by April 30, 2020. All proceeding deadlines for quarterly data submission are required by the end of the following calendar quarter (i.e. April 1, 2020 - June 30, 2020 must be submitted by July 31, 2020).

Who these guides are for

  • Large air carriers: An air carrier that operates a charter service or a scheduled service that has transported a worldwide total of two million passengers or more during each of the two preceding calendar years.
  • Small air carriers: An air carrier other than a large air carrier that operates a charter service or a scheduled service with at least one aircraft equipped for the carriage of passengers with a certificated maximum carrying capacity of 70 passengers or more.
