There are 15 elements (subparts) that belong to one of the four components in SSP.
What are the elements?
These elements are a guide on how to organize the SSP programme and how to maintain it. They provide detailed guidelines on how a member country must organize safety in their aviation system. As mentioned before, countries that have a mature aviation system already have many of these elements in place.
For example, the accident investigation element says that a country must have an accident investigation authority that is separate to the transport authority. Canada already has a Transportation Safety Board.
Altogether, these elements make up Canada’s safety management responsibilities.
