The International Civil Aviation Organization: State Safety Programme training

Canada is a member of ICAO - the International Civil Aviation Organization and has signed The Chicago Convention.

ICAO is a United Nations agency head quartered in Montreal. ICAO leverages the expertise of the Member States (countries) to develop standards and tools for the global advancement of civil aviation safety and security.

These member countries recognize the need to regulate international air travel, so that we have global standards.

Globally, this permits over 100,000 flights per day.

SSP comes from Annex 19- Safety Management.

It requires each State to set up an SSP in order to achieve aviation safety.
