Consultations for the Hamilton Airport Zoning Regulations

The proposed Hamilton Airport Zoning Regulations were published in the Canada Gazette, Part I, on March 5 and 12, 2016.

The Hamilton Airport Zoning Regulations apply to the land adjacent to, and in the vicinity of, the John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport.

Public Consultation

As part of the Airport Zoning Regulation (AZR) regulatory process, the 60 day public consultation begins following the publication of the proposed regulations in Canada Gazette Part I.

During the 60-day consultation period, interested persons may:

Public Information Session

Hamilton Airport will be holding an information session to gather feedback and answer your questions about the proposed John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport Zoning Regulations. Transport Canada invites you to find out more about these regulations by attending this session.

Participants at the session will include Tradeport International Corporation, Transport Canada, NAV CANADA and Public Services and Procurement Canada.

PUBLIC NOTICE
PROPOSED JOHN C. MUNRO HAMILTON INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT ZONING REGULATIONS

This Notice is given, as required by Section 5.5 of the Aeronautics Act, that the Governor In Council proposes to make airport zoning regulations with respect to John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport, pursuant to 5.4 of the Aeronautics Act. The complete text of these proposed regulations were published in the Canada Gazette, Part I, on March 5 and 12, 2016.

Airport Zoning Regulations are enacted in accordance with the Aeronautics Act to ensure that lands adjacent to and in the vicinity of an airport are developed in a manner that is safe for aircraft operations. These proposed airport zoning regulations will:

  • Limit the height of new buildings, structures and objects, on lands adjacent to or in the vicinity of the John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport;
  • Prohibit such lands from being used or developed in a manner that causes interference with any signal or communications to and from any aircraft or to and from any facilities used to provide services relating to aeronautics; and,
  • Restrict lands from being used or developed in a manner that would attract wildlife that may create a hazard to aviation safety.
