If you import an aircraft from another country, you must register it in Canada. After you apply, we will send you a certificate of registration in the mail.
What you need to do before you register
Before applying to register an imported aircraft, you must:
- Contact Civil Aviation to make sure your aircraft is eligible to be imported into Canada
- Make sure the “last state of registry” (in other words, the country from which you’re importing) provides proof to Transport Canada that the aircraft isn’t on a foreign register
- Meet airworthiness requirements for importation into Canada
- Apply to Civil Aviation to get registration marks for your aircraft
- There is no fee, except if you wish to reserve a mark ($45) or reserve a special mark ($140)
