Reporting an oil spill

If you see an oil spill or see a situation where there is the potential for an oil spill, please contact your local spill service (listed below) as soon as possible. If you are involved in or contribute to an oil spill, you are obligated to notify all applicable agencies.

When calling in a spill report, you will be asked:

  • your name
  • your telephone number
  • the location of the spill (province/territory)
  • how much oil has been spilled (approximately)
  • type of product spilled
  • on-scene weather
