Change in the Coming Into Force Date of the Automatic Identification Systems Carriage Requirements – Navigation Safety Regulations, 2020

Current status: Closed

Open on April 28, 2020 and closes on July 31, 2020.

On June 15, 2019, Transport Canada proposed new Navigation Safety Regulations, 2019 (now the Navigation Safety Regulations, 2020), which were published in the Canada Gazette, Part I. The coming into force date of the expanded Automatic Identification Systems (AIS) carriage requirements was supposed to be one year after the Regulations were registered (spring 2021). But now due to the publishing delay, Transport Canada would like to change the coming into force date to six months (from one year) after the Regulations are registered, to align with the original spring 2021 date.
