Transport Canada is considering regulations that would set the amounts of administrative monetary penalties (fines) and the classification of violations under the Marine Liability Act and parts of the Wrecked, Abandoned or Hazardous Vessels Act. This regulatory project would help stakeholders better understand the possible consequences for violations under these acts. Who is the focus of this consultation
Transport Canada is seeking feedback from stakeholders in the shipping, maritime transportation, oil, gas, chemical and other hazardous and noxious substances industries including:
- Receivers and exporters of oil products by sea;
- Receivers of hazardous and noxious substances by sea;
- Shipowners of vessels of 300 gross tonnage and above; and
- Operators transporting passengers by water.
